We are committed to providing a quality family support service that has as it's core vision the development of a service that can assist parents in helping their children learn, enjoy and achieve, by ensuring that:
we develop services for families that are empowering and give the opportunity for parents to get involved in shaping services for themselves and their children;
we deliver quality support services that provide activities, training, information, advice and signposting about other services and related activities for local families, children and young people (0-20), schools and practitioners;
we provide a support service for parents wishing to seek further education, training or employment;
we work in partnership with internal and external partners to promote services and activities for families.
With families, The Gap have also adopted a 'gender specific' approach to supporting parents based on research carried out by the outreach team, which revealed that more fathers are likely to attend a father focused initiative than a general parenting group. By providing a range of different activities we aim to build strong relationships with local families and help identify further support that may be required.
